Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Therapy Process & Telehealth Services

How do virtual individual therapy sessions work?

Virtual therapy sessions are conducted 100% online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Prior to your visit, you will receive an encrypted video link. You simply need a quiet, private room, a stable internet connection, and a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a working camera and microphone.

What states are eligible for individual therapy services?

Our clinician is licensed to provide individual therapy to clients who are physically located in Texas, New Mexico, or Washington at the time of their appointment. You will be asked to confirm your physical address at the start of each session for licensing and safety protocols.

What mental health conditions can individual therapy help treat?

No. Telehealth services are not intended for medical or mental health emergencies. If you are experiencing an immediate mental health crisis or thoughts of self-harm, please call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.

How long are the therapy sessions and how often will we meet?

Standard individual psychotherapy sessions typically run 45 minutes (CPT 90834) or 60 minutes (CPT 90837). Meeting frequency is personalized during your initial evaluation based on your individual treatment goals and clinical needs.

Can I combine individual therapy with medication management?

Yes. As a comprehensive psychiatric practice, we can integrate individual therapy with evidence-based medication management (CPT 99214 + 90833). Your care plan can combine both approaches or focus solely on therapy depending on your preferences and clinical recommendations.

Insurance, Payments & Practice Policies

What insurance plans are accepted for individual therapy?

We directly bill major insurance networks, including Aetna, Cigna, Regence, UMR, GEHA, Optum, Oscar, Oxford Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare, and Evernorth. You are responsible for any applicable copay, coinsurance, or deductible at the time of service.

How much does therapy cost if I am paying out-of-pocket?

Self-pay options are available for clients who do not have insurance or choose not to use health plan benefits. Under the federal No Surprises Act, every self-pay client receives a written Good Faith Estimate detailing all expected session charges before care begins.

What is the cancellation and missed appointment policy?

We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a scheduled session. Late cancellations or missed visits (no-shows) are subject to a fee that cannot be billed to insurance.

Can adolescents and teenagers receive individual therapy?

Yes. We provide individual therapy for adolescents with required parent or legal guardian consent and custody verification. Teenagers receive appropriate private time during sessions to foster open communication, while parents remain actively involved in care planning and safety updates.

What should I do if I experience an immediate crisis?

Telehealth services are not intended for psychiatric or medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, severe distress, or thoughts of self-harm, please call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
